Geographical location
According to COUNTRYAAH, Tunisia is the northernmost state in Africa and is only around 150 kilometers from the Italian island of Sicily. The country borders Algeria to the west and Libya to the southeast.
The coast of Tunisia stretches along the Mediterranean Sea, over the Gulf of Tunis, the Gulf of Hammamet to the popular island of Djerba on the Gulf of Gabès. The capital Tunis is located in the north of the country. The landscape of Tunisia is divided into the fertile coastal strip of the Sahel, limestone plateaus and steppe, as well as the highlands of the so-called Dorsal, in which the highest peaks of the country are located with Djebel Chambi (1544 meters) in the southwest and Djebel Zaghouan (1295 meters) in the northeast.
The coastal town of Nabeul and the Hammemet region are located in the northeast of the country. Further east we find the city of Monastir and Sousse, another popular travel destination. Tunisia covers an area of 164,000 square kilometers, the country is home to about 11 million people. The official language is Arabic, but French is also widely spoken.

Climate in Tunisia
Temperatures in Tunisia range between 7 ° C and 33 degrees Celsius, depending on the season. Precipitation is a little decisive factor here, it is in a very low range throughout the country. There is no rainy season in Tunisia, the climate is extremely dry, especially in summer.
But also in the other months of January, February, March as well as October, November and December, for example, there is very little rain on Djerba with precipitation between 20 and 40 millimeters. The daytime temperatures in winter are around 12 degrees from the end of April, the thermometer climbs above the 20 degree mark. Summer in Tunisia reaches temperatures of 30 degrees and more between June and September, and it remains very warm at night.
When to go to Tunisia
Most travelers are drawn to Tunisia for a beach holiday, which is why the dry and warm summer months are particularly pleasant. As the best travel time in Tunisia, we recommend the period June to mid-October, especially July and August shine with 11 to 12 hours of sunshine per day and a pleasant water temperature of 25 to 26 degrees.
Not only on the popular holiday island Djerba is the peak season of course at this time, due to the sunny weather and the long summer holidays in most European countries. The annual average temperature in Djerba is 19.9 ° C. For comparison: Munich reaches an average of 8.6 ° C, in Berlin it is 9.6 ° C. The warmest month is August (27.7 ° C), coldest month of January with mean values of 12.5 ° C. The maximum water temperature in Djerba is 26 ° C. Comfortable bathing is possible at these temperatures. All but January, February and March have a water temperature of at least 17 ° C. Bathing is then possible to a limited extent. The months of June, July, August, September and October have a water temperature of at least 21 ° C and are therefore suitable for a beach holiday.
Precipitation

The most famous sights in the country include the Medina of Sousse, the National Museum of Bardo, the port of El-Kantaoui, the once pompous Roman city of Carthage, the impressive Ez-Zitouna Mosque and the Berber town of Matmata. In addition to Djerba and Monastir, the largest tourist centers are the regions around Sousse, Tunis and Hammamet.
