Geographical location
According to COUNTRYAAH, Singapore is a city and an island state at the same time. At just 718 square kilometers, it is the smallest state in Southeast Asia in terms of area. The name Singapore is based on a legend about the prince’s encounter with a lion and is made up of the words Singha (for lion) and Pura (for city).
To the west, Singapore meets the most important shipping route in the region, the so-called Strait of Malacca, and is connected to the mainland of Malaysia via the Johor-Singapore-Causeway via an artificial dam and the Second Link Bridge.
The fairly flat national territory of Singapore has its highest point in the 163 meter high Bukit Timah Hill. Singapore is one of the ten most visited cities in the world and, despite the high cost of living, continues to experience a great boom in tourism.
Singapore is a real multicultural state with around 5.7 million inhabitants, the correct name for the inhabitants is Singaporean. The official languages are Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil. However, English has now become the main language and is primarily taught in schools.
Around a third of the population are Buddhists, followed by Christians (around 18%), Muslims (15%) and Daoists (11%). Singapore is around 10,200 kilometers from Frankfurt, the flight time (for direct connections) is around 12 hours.

Climate in Singapore
Singapore has a tropical and humid climate with high temperatures all year round. The daily values are between at least 29 degrees (December, January) and around 32 degrees (April, May) over the course of the year. There are no classic seasons, only the monsoon at the end of the calendar year cools off a bit and more precipitation.
In general, Singapore has a very high humidity and experiences regular tropical showers. The rain falls mainly at night or in the early morning, even during the day it is seldom permanently cloud-free. Europeans therefore often find the climate in Singapore oppressive or humid.
On the other hand, the weather seldom stands in the way of an extensive city tour in Singapore, as the rain showers are over as quickly as they started and, moreover, no unpleasant weather extremes are to be expected.
When is the best time to visit Singapore?
Due to the described climatic conditions, Singapore is generally easy to travel to all year round. You shouldn’t hang the precipitation values too high, we have already made fantastic trips to Singapore and used the city not only as a stopover.
Because the city’s many attractions offer more than enough reason to take Singapore seriously as a completely independent travel destination. The city records particularly high overnight prices around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but also during the Chinese New Year (depending on the moon phase from late January to mid- February) and at Easter.
In any case, the European winter months are less suitable due to the increased rainfall, which is why we can recommend the period from March to October as the best travel time for Singapore. Nevertheless – I would like to point this out again – we ourselves had very good travel weather in Singapore in January.

Highlights and sights
Singapore is – similar to Dubai in some ways – a city that never stands still. New, extraordinary attractions are constantly being added and shape the cityscape with amazing architecture. First and foremost, of course, the luxury hotel Marina Bay Sands with its brilliant twin towers and the viewing platform on the marina.
But the neighboring giant wheel Singapore Flyer and the laser show in the evening are more than worth a visit. The light spectacle of the new Gardens by the Bay is just as popular as the botanical garden, a stroll down Orchard Road, a trip to the zoo (including a night safari) and Sentosa Island with highlights such as the Universal Film Studios.
