GEOGRAPHY
The Czech Republic is geographically constituted by the two main regions of Bohemia, to the W, and of Moravia, to the E. Bohemia is essentially mountainous, although crossed by the valleys of the Elbe and Moldava rivers; hilly and flat Moravia, arranged around the Morava valley and partly crossed by the Oder, which continues its journey towards Poland to flow into the Baltic Sea. The entire territory of the Czech Republic is characterized by relatively gentle and abundantly eroded morphologies, given the prevailing antiquity of the relief (Hercynian), whose maximum peaks (the Sudeten mountains, in the north of the country), barely reach 1500-1600 m. The geological constitution is quite varied, with a prevalence of ancient W and S formations (Bohemian Forest, Ore Mountains) and NE (Sudeten Mountains), but with a large presence of more recent depositions in depressions (Central Bohemia, Moravia). The region is rich in waters and the rivers along their course often open giving rise to lakes (over 400 basins on the territory between glacial and artificial ones). The climate of the Czech Republic, mainly of a continental type, has rigid winters with abundant snowfalls and intense rainfall even in the intermediate seasons; in summer the climate remains cool (19 ° the average temperature in Prague in July).
