Geographical location
According to abbreviationfinder, Agadir is an emerging tourist region in the south of Morocco. The old port city lies directly on the Atlantic and has a long sandy beach, on whose promenade several high-class hotels have been settled in recent years.
The city, which was once founded by Portuguese sailors, is now home to around 600,000 inhabitants, although tourists in particular do not perceive the well-distributed area of Agadir as a large city in the classic sense. In addition to tourism, the main sources of income are mining and fishing in particular.
With its extremely mild climate and over 300 days of sunshine a year, Agadir is also enjoying increasing popularity among German holidaymakers. The region is considered safe and politically stable.
In the main season, several tour operators operate full charters to Agadir. Flights can also be booked individually with airlines such as Condor and SunExpress. The flight time from Frankfurt is around 4 hours.
Climate in Agadir
Agadir has a dry, mild and very balanced climate all year round. The winter is comparatively warm with daily values of 18 degrees, at night the thermometer rarely drops below 8 degrees. The steady winds from the Atlantic ensure that Agadir does not feel too hot even in midsummer.
Rain rarely falls in Agadir, in summer there is usually no precipitation at all. The wettest travel time is between November and the end of February, when the temperatures are not very suitable for a beach holiday anyway.
From the end of May, the bathing season begins around Agadir when the water temperature slowly climbs towards 20 ° C and values of up to 25 degrees are reached during the day. The high season is in the summer months of July, August and September, the three warmest months in the region.
When to go to Agadir
The best travel time for Agadir begins with the rising temperatures in May and ends with the slowly rising humidity towards the end of October. Basically, we can easily call Agadir a year-round destination, as it can also be wonderfully combined with other cities in Morocco.
Nevertheless, you should be aware that in the off-season swimming in the Atlantic can be very cool with 16 to 17 degrees.
The main season from late June to early October is therefore particularly suitable for a beach holiday. Our tip are the transition times immediately before and after the summer holidays, as the weather offers the best conditions, but the prices are still comparatively cheap.
