According to wholevehicles, Nigeria is a West African country located on the Gulf of Guinea. It is bordered by Benin, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and the Atlantic Ocean. The country covers an area of 923,768 square kilometers and has a population of around 206 million people as of 2020. The capital city is Abuja and the largest city is Lagos. The geography of Nigeria consists mostly of tropical rainforest in the south-east and savanna grasslands in the north-east with some mountainous terrain in the north-west near Jos. There are numerous rivers including the Niger River which flows through the middle of Nigeria from east to west and provides much of its water supply for agriculture, industry and other activities. Education in Nigeria is provided by both public and private institutions. Primary education (6-12 years old) is free and compulsory for children aged 6 to 12 but due to poverty many children remain out of school or drop out early to work for their families or pursue other activities such as begging or trading on street markets. Secondary education (13-18 years old) consists of two cycles: junior secondary (JSCE) which lasts for 3 years followed by senior secondary (SSCE) which lasts for 2 years culminating with a final exam known as WAEC or NECO depending on the student’s state which students must pass to gain access to tertiary level education. Tertiary level education includes universities offering degree programs across numerous disciplines such as engineering, medicine and business studies as well as private colleges providing courses ranging from certificates through to postgraduate degrees such as Masters or Doctorates.
