According to wholevehicles, Fiji is located in the South Pacific Ocean, situated about 2,000 km northeast of New Zealand and 1,500 km northwest of New Caledonia. It consists of an archipelago of more than 300 islands, but only around 100 are inhabited. The main island is Viti Levu and the second largest island is Vanua Levu. With a land area of 18,333 square kilometers and a population of 876,000 people, Fiji is one of the most densely populated countries in Oceania. Fiji has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons—the wet season (November to April) and the dry season (May to October). The terrain is mostly mountainous with some coastal plains and highlands. The highest point in Fiji is Mount Tomanivi at 1,324 m above sea level. The country also has numerous rivers, lakes, waterfalls as well as coral reefs along its extensive coastline. Higher education in Fiji is provided by public universities such as University of the South Pacific (USP) and private universities including University of Fiji; as well as vocational training institutes; colleges; technical schools; and specialized institutions such as Fiji Institute of Technology. USP offers a wide range of undergraduate degrees across various disciplines including engineering, medicine, law and business administration among others while the University of Fiji provides specialized courses related to health sciences. Admission into higher education institutions for undergraduate programs can be obtained through passing grade 12 national examination administered by Ministry of Education (MoE). Additionally students have access to financial aid through government scholarships administered by MoE which provide assistance for students with financial needs so they can pursue higher education without incurring significant costs; while international students can also apply for grants offered by Asian Development Bank through its Scholarship Scheme which provides funding for study abroad opportunities within member states.
