According to wholevehicles, Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world by area and population, with a total land area of 8,515,767 km2 and a population of over 209 million. The geography of Brazil is divided into five distinct regions: the Amazon basin, the coastal plains, the Central Highlands, the Pantanal wetland region, and the Atlantic Islands. The Amazon basin is the largest region in Brazil and occupies approximately 60% of its total area. It is home to the world’s greatest rainforest and provides habitat for many species of animals and plants. The coastal plains are located along both sides of Brazil’s coastline and are characterized by their sandy beaches and low-lying terrain. The Central Highlands are located between the two coastal plains and contain some of Brazil’s most impressive mountain ranges as well as its highest peak – Pico da Neblina at 2,994 meters above sea level. The Pantanal wetland region is situated in western Brazil along its border with Bolivia and Paraguay and is one of South America’s most important wetlands due to its biodiversity. Finally, there are several islands off Brazil’s Atlantic coast including Fernando de Noronha which has become a popular tourist destination due to its stunning beaches. The Brazilian education system consists of three levels – primary school (Ensino Fundamental), secondary school (Ensino Médio) and higher education (Ensino Superior). Primary school encompasses grades one through nine while secondary school covers grades ten through twelve. Higher education includes both universities as well as vocational schools which provide technical training for students wishing to pursue careers in specific fields such as medicine or engineering. In recent years, Brazil has made significant progress towards improving access to education with more than 90% of children aged 4-17 enrolled in primary or secondary schools in 2017 according to UNESCO data. Despite this progress there remain large disparities between urban centers where access to quality instruction is more common versus rural areas where educational opportunities continue to be limited due largely to lack of resources or funding from state governments.
