General & Geography
According to COUNTRYAAH, the Kingdom of Jordan is located in the Middle East and consists mainly of desert areas. The immediate neighbors are Israel, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and there is a border line to Egypt on the Red Sea.
Jordan is considered politically stable and peaceful, but travelers must always keep an eye on the latest developments and security information from the Federal Foreign Office.
In terms of landscape and culture, Jordan is a country of indescribable diversity. Fascinating historical sites, rock cities, inspiring deserts or relaxation on the Red Sea? Jordan offers unlimited possibilities for an unforgettable trip!
The kingdom can only be used agriculturally to a very limited extent; the country’s largest industry is the mining and export of phosphate (e.g. for fertilizers). Around a tenth of the gross domestic product comes from tourism.
The main sights and attractions of Jordan include the rock city of Petra, the citadel of the capital Amman, the ancient Jerash, the Wadi Rum desert, Aqaba on the Red Sea, the Madaba mosaics and the lowest point on earth on the Dead Sea.
The capital is the modern city of Amman, which is served by several airlines from Germany.

Climate in Jordan
Jordan lies in a climatic transition zone between the Mediterranean region with its humid winter months and a desert climate with a continental aspect. In general, the region on the Red Sea (Aqaba) has hot, dry summer months and a still sunny, mild winter time.
The Mediterranean climate in northwestern Jordan also brings warm, dry summer months with it, but very humid winter months. The hilly region cools off considerably in winter, most of the rain falls between November and March. Snowfall can even occur at high altitudes.
The south and east of Jordan has a typical desert climate, especially in midsummer it can be extremely hot. Basically it can be said that the rain increases significantly from east to west and from south to north. The eastern desert therefore recorded the least rain, the mountain regions in the west and northwest the most.
When is the best time to visit Jordan?
The climate differences described make a general recommendation of the travel time for Jordan a little more complicated. In general, Aqaba and the Dead Sea in particular are easy to travel to all year round, even if very high temperatures are to be expected in midsummer.
For tours and visits to the rest of the country, however, the summer months can be too exhausting, while the winter months are also subject to some restrictions due to the high humidity. We therefore recommend March to mid- June and September to mid-November as the best travel time for Jordan.
