General & Geographical Location
According to abbreviationfinder, Guam is the largest island of the Mariana Archipelago in the western Pacific and is home to around 190,000 inhabitants on around 545 square kilometers.
Since it is a so-called non-incorporated US-American territory, the head of state Guams is the incumbent US president. Guam has an internal autonomy, so that the residents are US-Americans, but are not allowed to participate in US elections, for example.
The island is located on a flat limestone plateau about 2060 kilometers east of the Philippines and about 2390 kilometers south of the Japanese island of Honshū. This situation has always made Guam of great military importance for the USA.
But Guam is also a very popular tourist destination and, after Hawaii, the second most popular destination in the Pacific. The highest point is Mount Lamlam, which is 406 meters high.
The official language is English, payment is made in US dollars. Many residents speak Chamorro, the language of the original wine inhabitants, and Filipino language variants are also very common.
Antonio B. Won Pat Airport near the capital Hagåtña is around 11,750 kilometers from Frankfurt. The journey usually takes place with a stopover in Asia or the USA.
Climate on Guam
Due to its proximity to the equator, Guam has high temperatures all year round and has a typically tropical South Pacific climate. The island is one of the wettest regions in the world, but impresses with its breathtaking beauty. Basically, two travel times can be distinguished on Guam:
The dry season runs from around mid- December to the end of June, has lower humidity and slightly more moderate daytime temperatures. As a transition month, December is still quite humid, especially in the first half of the month.
No later than the beginning of July, then the rainy season sets in on Guam, trade winds now carry moist Pacific air to the island and there are heavy rains and often thunderstorms almost every afternoon and evening. The risk of typhoons is quite small, but statistically speaking, Guam is affected roughly every 8 years during the rainy season.
When is the best time to visit Guam?
The two different seasons already give an idea of the best time to travel to Guam, it is of course recommended to prefer the much more pleasant dry season on the island. Around Christmas it gets very friendly, but also traditionally very crowded and expensive on Guam.
We therefore recommend the period from mid- January to the end of May as the absolutely best travel time for the island paradise in Micronesia (South Pacific). The dry season offers the best conditions for diving and snorkeling as well as for swimming and all kinds of water sports in general. The February is ideal for active vacationers as it is not so hot.

The two old protection systems Fort Santa Agueda and Fort Nuestra Senora de la Soledad are popular attractions on Guam. But the island’s main attractions are of course its beautiful beaches and the impressive underwater world, which made Guam a popular honeymoon destination and dream destination for divers.
Some of the best beaches in Guam include Ritidian Point, Tumon Beach and Gun Beach. The latter merges directly with the neighboring Ypao Beach Park at the Hilton Hotel. Under water, both the colorful biodiversity and the imposing wrecks on the sea floor with fantastic diving conditions inspire.
