The climate of Tibet
According to DigoPaul, Tibet is an autonomous region in the People’s Republic of China. The region has been fighting for independence for many years. The culture, architecture and sights are largely dominated by the belief of most Tibetans, Tibetan Buddhism. The many temples, monasteries and festivals in particular attract large numbers of tourists to Tibet every year. Besides tourism, agriculture is the main source of income.
The climate in Tibet is extremely cold. Due to the high altitude at which the region is located (in the Himalayas), the thin air does not absorb heat and can therefore not give off heat. Despite the high radiation from the sun – you are a lot closer to it – it does not feel warm. The sun gives a nice bright light. Despite the extreme temperatures in both winter and summer, the area can be visited. In the winter months the temperature drops far below zero and also in the summer it remains cold. It is better to avoid the winter months of December and January, because it is very cold. In the period from May to October it can rain quite hard.
